Ten years may seem like a long time away, but cybersecurity is evolving so fast that it will fly by unnoticed. Of course, making any predictions is a thankless thing, but they can be useful. At the very least, CIOs and CISOs can prepare for future problems, so they don’t have to look back and regret not taking action back in 2021.


Cloud data

If there is one aspect of IT that has experienced the greatest transformation in recent times, it is undoubtedly – the use of cloud technology. This trend is only going to grow shortly. The cloud makes it faster, cheaper, and easier than ever to put services online and collect vast amounts of data. But practice shows that along with the undeniable convenience of cloud technology also conceals an incredible number of vulnerabilities. We hope that in the future that will be resolved.




Passwords were predicted to die a few decades ago, but today they are still relevant. Partially because of their ease of use and general accessibility. At the same time, the desire of intruders to acquire our passwords will remain irrepressible in the next ten years. That’s why experts hope that this trend will evolve, and we will have more opportunities to authenticate without them.

In the next ten years, we will see more biometrics and use additional authentication methods with the mobile devices we already have in our pockets.


AI in the future of cybersecurity

The role of artificial intelligence in future cybersecurity cannot be underestimated. Experts believe that AI will be a catalyst and help us deal with threats in new ways. In 10 years, we will have computer security algorithms that will allow us to create specific bots. They will hunt for threats and act against “bad” bots. But don’t worry – this algorithm will still require human intervention. So the enslavement of humans by artificial intelligence is not foreseen soon.


Data leaks and the threat landscape

As with artificial intelligence, data breaches are expected to be more prevalent in 2031 than in 2021, which is unfortunate and frightening. As more and more data and devices come online, the risk of leaks only increases.

Many factors are contributing to the worsening situation. More and more people will go online and give their data to digital systems. Plus, the Internet of Things is coming into play. We will be collecting even more data from devices that have never been digitized before. That will give limitless opportunities to cybercriminals.


Large-scale hacks and supply chain hacks

According to experts, more supply chain attacks and even more attacks by governments are expected shortly. Governments are more likely to go after critical infrastructures as they become increasingly digital.

The same types of attacks caused by the same mistakes today are expected to occur in the future. The only way to prevent new attacks on infrastructure is for countries to pass a Geneva Convention-style digital act prohibiting them from attacking each other’s infrastructure.


Cybersecurity skills

The issue of a large number of unfilled cybersecurity jobs is now at issue. After all, if we can’t solve this crucial piece of the puzzle, how can we keep up?

The industry is quite lucrative, and there is a hope that the number of people willing to develop in it will only grow over the years. But for now, in 2021, we still face this challenge.
